Tradition
The vineyard has been cultivated in Fuencaliente de La Palma since time immemorial. From dry, hot and steep coasts up to humid highlands caressed by the mist of trade winds. Vineyard cultivation practices are still carried out in an ancestral way passed down through generations: creeping grapevine; traditional pruning; varietals of centuries-old grapevines preserved only in this municipality, which made so famous our wines: malmsey (malvasía), sabro and gual for the sweet wines; and then listans, bujariego, negramoll, bastardo, baboso, etc. for white, red and rose wines.

With more than sixty years of history, Teneguía Winery keeps up with its tradition in the cultivation process, while the most modern vinification techniques help to reach high quality levels of our wines. Teneguía Winery is undoubtedly the most awarded one in Canary Islands. And following that path, our winery researches and works every day to keep on the frontline.

The hundred-year-old Malmsey (Malvasía) grapevines provide a grape of excellent quality, which can only be obtained in Llanos Negros, natural reserve situated on the sides of San Antonio Volcano. The climate and land conditions make an unequalled symbiosis for production of naturally sweet wine of high quality, which is not able to achieve in any other place in the world. Small vintages, usually not exceeding fifteen thousand kilograms, turn these wines into an authentic enological treasure.

Volcanic slopes are covered by volcanic ash of the last volcanos, such as Teneguía volcano (1971). Middle hillsides and highlands, vineyards coexisting with pine forest, in order to give wines of excellent acidity and fruity flavour.
